sleepy time tip: ribbon bookmarks

IMG_7550 Maybe you have the same problem we do.  There are piles of books scattered around our house, some just begun, others almost finished being read.  And when we actually sit down to read, we have no idea where we last left off.

Bobby requested lots of bookmarks.  And we delivered.  What you'll need for the ribbon bookmark:

  • wide ribbon
  • vinyl (optional)
  • photo (optional)
  • pinking shears
  • extra large eyelets and eyelet tools

  1. Cut a 10-14 inch piece of wide ribbon.
  2. Cut the bottom of the ribbon on two diagonals to create a tapered edge.
  3. Use pinking shears to cut the top of the ribbon straight across.
  4. Sew a small square of vinyl on the front of the bookmark--stitch just three sides to create a pocket.
  5. Insert a small photo.  (This pocket allows you to switch out photos or identify who's bookmark it is based on the personal photo.)

Gather your hammer, bookmark, and large eyelet set to some where hard, like a cement slab.

{Don't fret--that's not a bloody finger, it's food coloring!}

Follow the eyelet's set of directions and hammer the eyelet together.  The eyelet is decorative but allows you to hang all of the bookmarks on a hook as well.  You're finished!

Try making the bookmarks in a variety of ribbons or color coordinate them for each family member, with or without the photo pocket.
