projects revisited: wool felt booties

IMG_2822 One of my go-to baby gifts I love to make: wool felt booties.  In the early years of making these, I tried embellishing them more and using cheap felt.  Now I stick with good wool felt with the perfect button.

The pattern (I've modified this one found here) is simple:  the sole, the top, and the strap.  These whip up pretty fast which is definitely why it is a staple project for me.  The bootie closes with velcro or sometimes, I sew on a snap.

I have great memories of these two pairs I'm showing you that I made just for Ainsleigh and Annabelle when they were babies.  They were what I would grab for trips to the park and the grocery store.

When I give these away to friends for their wee ones, it is fun to sew a up a little drawstring bag in pretty fabric for them to keep their child's booties.  I was always missing one when I had two pairs to keep track of!

What do you like to give to welcome new babies into the world?

Hope you have a great weekend.  I have a great tutorial to share on Monday of something we just got around to doing.  Think "lemons and relaxing".
