projects revisited: embroidery hoops as decor

IMG_5870 I was given my Granny's wooden embroidery hoops well before I even understood the concept of embroidery.  They were exactly what I was needing for the perfect focal point for the basement playroom.  I wanted an aesthetic room for children and their mamas, for playdates, conversation, and my sewing happening just on the other side of the room...

I found some whimsical home decor fabric at IKEA and cut circles slightly wider than each embroidery hoop, then fit each fabric circle into it's hoop.  Any extra fabric hanging out I trimmed.  You may laugh, but when I do embroider, I can be found standing on the couch, reaching for the right size hoop I need for the project.

Happy weekend, everyone!
