Part one of the Creating a Family Wall tutorial begins with homemade thumb tacks. I know, I know, you have no idea what this family wall is. You shall see tomorrow! Until then, we have thumb tacks to make...
I wanted special, attractive thumb tacks for the family wall so decided to make them exactly how I wanted them.
Homemade Thumb Tacks
- [amazon_link id="B001DEJME2" target="_blank" ]flat-headed thumb tacks[/amazon_link]
- 30 of your favorite flat-backed buttons (try a fabric outlet where you can buy in bulk)
- hot glue gun
1. Glue each thumb tack onto the back of the button. Within seconds when the glue is dry you are ready to start pinning! (Real pinning, not Pinterest!)
These homemade thumb tacks would look fantastic with a wide variety of sizes, colors, and textures of buttons. Because my thumb tacks are going up in my dining room, I wanted consistency and something somewhat formal.
I store the thumb tacks in a little white-lidded clear glass jar. It fits them perfectly--rather, it did. I actually need to make more since these are all up on the wall.
Be back tomorrow for a very versatile tutorial for your home!
