a potluck

{Friends are always welcome to my backyard when they bring wonderful, fresh food to share.}

{Bobby grilled and grilled and grilled.  I sat and ate and ate and ate.}

{Crayons for the kids' paper tablecloths. A last minute idea that kept little ones content while parents enjoyed each other.}

{And summer paper goods were found in a cupboard, never used because of last year's canceled party.  A last minute find and they matched the tablecloth, lantern, and candles.  I love when things work out better than planned.}

{A sweet ending and one of my favorites to bake up for a large crowd: Barefoot Contessa's Outrageous Brownies.  They are some pretty substantial brownies, I must say.}

{And a little sneak peek for an outdoor entertaining tutorial I'll share tomorrow.}

I love time spent with my own family and friends when the weekend comes.  The night ended with my oldest two catching fireflies inside plastic cups until it was too dark and too late.  I love these nights.  I love the promise of summer.
