january + circumstances

IMG_6320 Good morning!

We are still anxiously awaiting the first snow of the season.

And while we wait there are things to build, looms to prepare, days to begin planning again, and the crisp air keeping us pleasantly happy indoors.

I am feeling better on most days, learning from daily practice to listen to my body and my mood.  With new goals for my family I'm changing my morning routine quite a bit to make the circumstances I want most.  (More on that later.)

I'm working to live by this empowering concept:

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.”

George Bernard Shaw

Ask yourself at the beginning of this new year: What circumstances are you wanting in your life?  How can you make those circumstances this year so there are no excuses keeping you from what you want most?

Make this your most incredible year, friends.

Go out + live boldly!

Good morning!

It feels so good to me back in this space.  I had a pretty amazing Monday spent in NYC for the Fancy Food Show with my husband. (View the AMAZING day--and food--via Instagram here.)

And now I'm back into full swing with my four girls' intense 5 Week Summer Ballet Program and, well, more potty training. ;)

I'm super excited to share My Favorite Things for June video and would LOVE for you to share what your favorite things are at the moment.  Check out the video and don't forget to subscribe to the channel.

Have a terrific day friends and share a link with me below!

When the sun has barely risen and the house is still silent, I love tiptoeing through the house to see what remnants lie around.  What details I missed of learning, creating, and celebrating.  It is always magical sneaking up on the motionless and frozen remnants of days gone by...

The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.

Rowan has [amazon_link id="0670011096" target="_blank" ]this book[/amazon_link] memorized.  And for good reason.  He will be taking his first "ride, ride, ride on the subway", as the book reads in a melodious way, today.

We will be enjoying family and sight-seeing in NYC in time to return back home for Easter.

I hope you all have a most wonderful, meaningful Easter weekend, friends.

Right now we are...

  • sewing matching ballet snack pouches to go with Caroline and Johanna's ballet shoe tote they keep in their ballet bags
  • loving individually portioned homemade snacks (like our seasoned nut blends in 1/2 cup servings) in snack bags inside the pantry for easy grab and go (without the "you got more than me!")
  • making our favorite crackers (sesame seed crackers, sunflower seed crackers, and cheese crackers are our favorite) and dipping, loading, and toasting them for a myriad of snacks and lunches options
  • listening to [amazon_link id="0545019230" target="_blank" ]BOB books[/amazon_link] being read by my youngest girls and seeing their incredible focus from learning and succeeding in their new skill
  • beginning to plan a family fundraiser (pretty excited about it!) for the girls to help earn their own money towards their intensive 5 week ballet program this summer
  • enjoying cold, quiet afternoons reading [amazon_link id="B00844JD0C" target="_blank" ]The Sisters Grimm[/amazon_link] to my girls and sipping rich and creamy hot cocoa (Half coconut milk, half whole milk, unsweetened baking chocolate squares chopped (or cocoa), sweetener, vanilla, + salt.  It is a wonderful afternoon snack alternative that is healthily satisfying + filling.)
  • exploring coins, telling time, the Army, the Marines, Harry Potter spells, gems, tractors, fire trucks, new sewing patterns, sign language, Disney World, ocean life, electricity, Navy Seals, Japanese calligraphy, trains, addition, and soap making

Spend the afternoon. You can't take it with you.
